2. How is Intimate Partner defined in Canada?

In 2019,  the definition of “intimate partner” was added to the Criminal Code and now includes all of the following: "their current or former spouse, common-law partner and dating partner; (partenaire in time).”

There are many types of possible criminal offences under the Criminal Code of Canada that may apply to a domestic assault or intimate partner violence case, including :
